Description:
This project was a design/build aircraft parking apron consisting of 180,000 sy of 6” and 12” concrete pavement on a 12” graded aggregate base course. R.C. Construction Co. collaborated with CEMS engineering for the design of this project. The 30 acre site was first stripped and excavated prior to extensive utility work. The utilities included approximately 4,000 lf of 10” DIP water line, 3,000 lf of industrial waste force main, electrical ductbank, and extensive manhole reinforcement. Over 100,000 tons of base material was hauled from Florida rock’s quarry in Macon. Graham Bros. Construction performed all site work excluding the electrical work and the water line. Dean Collins Construction performed the water and electrical.

Description:
Expansion and renovation of Army Ranger staging complex in two phases. Phase I included construction of IRC Building (approximately 19,000SF), Ranger Rigging Building (approximately 18,000SF), Ranger Warehouse (approximately 15,000SF), several smaller structures, extensive site improvements including a 200,000 gal. elevated water storage tank, and extensive concrete pavements. The IRC, Rigging and Warehouse Buildings all are constructed alike, with reinforced concrete foundations and floor slabs, high bay steel framing, masonry walls, and standing seam metal roofing and siding. Phase II included renovations of an existing building (approximately 33,000SF) including a SIPERNET space, and additional site improvements and concrete pavements.

Description:
Contract for demolition of approximately 96,000 SY portion of existing apron on active airfield, including decontamination and removal of existing in-ground hydrant fuel pits and piping, and demolition of existing storm drainage system and reconstruction and expansion with approximately 116,000 SY of 15”, 16” and 18” concrete pavement over an open-graded drainage layer over stone base with underdrain system, and asphalt shoulders over stone base. Project included new hydrant fuel pits and piping, extensive storm drainage with up to 72” diameter pipe and drainage structures buried as deep as 17 feet with a value of approximately $1.5 million, and extensive airfield electrical work.

Extension of both ends of only active runway at Lawson AAF plus new and replacement taxiway construction totaling approximately 80,000 SY of 15” concrete pavement over open-graded drainage layer over stone base with underdrain system, with asphalt shoulders over stone base. Construction required extensive site grading, including approximately 100,000 CY of borrow excavation, storm drainage, and airfield electrical work.
